Adobe Captivate is one tool that helps you create device-independent, fully responsive eLearning courses using its smart authoring capability. In this article, we will be covering how to use Adobe Captivate to record video presentations. 


1. Click here on Adobe Captivate to download and install the software. 

Be sure to check out System Requirements - Adobe Captive before installing the software. The software will not operate without activation. Broadband Internet connection and registration are required for software activation, validation of subscriptions, and access to online services.

2. Once installed, launch Adobe Captivate. 

3. Before proceeding further, run your PowerPoint Presentation in full-screen mode on a second monitor. 

4. Now from Adobe Captivate's initial interface, select the Video Demo option and then click on the Create button.

5. The next pop-up dialog has the window capture options. 

In the Snap-to section, you can define the capture area by selecting Application window, Application region or Custom size. In our example, Application window has been selected.

Click on the radio button against the Application option, and then select the PowerPoint Presentation from the drop-down list of available windows to capture. Your PowerPoint presentation will be captured with the captured area indicated by a red outline.  

6. Before starting your recording, you can modify the location of the saved videos if required. Click on the Settings button to open the preferences dialog to modify any settings.

7. When you are satisfied with the settings, you are now ready to record your presentation.

Click on the Record button to start your recording. 


8. Use the Esc or End key on your keyboard to stop the recording. Once the recording stops, the following Publish Video Demo dialog appears. From here, select your preferences before publishing the video or use the Presets available from the drop-down. 

Click on the Publish button to continue. Depending on the length of the video and the quality selected, it will process the video and then bring up the "Video has been published successfully" dialog.

9. You can now use this video to upload to the VIDIZMO portal.
